Seth's Genealogy to Noah and the Ark In the genealogy of Seth we find the following: Seth had Enos, who had Cainan, who had Mahalaleel, who had Jared, who had Enoch (this is the Enoch who walked with God then was no more because God loved him and took him from the earth.), who had Methuselah, who had Lamech, who Noah (this is the Noah who built the ark that landed on mount Ararat). This is the lineage from Adam the first man, to Noah; A man who found grace in God's eyes. Noah would continue the lineage of Adam that ran through Seth.
Cain Is Cut Out Of Adam's Genealogy An important note here is that Cain who was Adams first son was cut out of Adam's lineage. So Cain's lineage was cut off and then destroyed with the flood allowing only Seth's lineage to survive. Also interesting is that Abel is not listed in Adams lineage. Genesis 5.1 through 5.32. Adam's lineage is as follows: Genesis 5.1 "1: This is the book of generation of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him; 2: Male and female created he them; and blessed them. And called their name Adam, in the day they were created. 3: And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years and begat a son in his own likeness, after his own image; and called his name Seth:" So we see Cain and his lineage listed Genesis 4.17 through 4.24 were completely removed from Adams lineage, as was Abel's. In fact no other children are listed except Seth and that "Adam begat sons and Daughters."
We see and have traced a lineage that has been passed down either through verbal communication until the time of Moses, or has been revealed to Moses by God. Moses writes this lineage in Genesis as we are reading. To date this lineage is still undisputable. Scientifically speaking it must be accepted as historically true, because it still has not been disproved. We see that Noah is a direct descendant of Seth. Seth is a child of promise resulting from the curse of the serpent. As we discussed earlier; Seth is Abel's replacement. Furthermore, according to scripture, Seth never met with God and never had a covenant established with him. So, I am speculating that Seth is simply a new lineage by which a unique male child will be born.
Noah's Lineage Through The Flood To Shem Now we see Noah has three children of his own. Genesis 5.32 "32: And Noah was five hundred years old: and Noah begat, Shem, Ham and Japheth." God meets with Noah in Genesis 6.13 and explains to Noah how upset he is with all the violence do to man. "32: And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me: for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold I will destroy them with the earth." Next we see God establishes his covenant with Noah in Genesis 6.18 "But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons wives with thee." We see how Noah passes the lineage on to Shem in a curse resulting from Ham seeing Noah's nakedness in Genesis 9.25 "25. And he (Noah) said, Cursed be Canaan (Ham's Son), a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren, 26. And he said, Blessed be the Lord God of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant. 27. God shall enlarge Japheth, and he shall dwell in the tents of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant." So, Shem receives the the blessing from his father Noah to carry on the lineage by which the unique child would be born.
